📈 Plug & Play: My Short-term YouTube Growth Strategy

Hello, beautiful people of the Internet! 👋

Welcome back; I’m glad you’re here. Today I’m in my shorts... I mean, nowadays it's all about shorts, especially YouTube Shorts. Let’s dive right in, okay?

🫙 YouTube Shorts is the secret sauce

Short-form vertical video is already an established social media content format. No discussion there. Don’t get me started! Stories took it mainstream. TikTok wrote it in stone. Guess what happened? Everyone else copied it. Youtube, Instagram, and now Facebook. Anyone else? TikTok may have brought "Sexyback," but someone is doing it better. Yes, it’s YouTube.

Simply put, YouTube is superior. Why? The creator economy now dictates where creators and thus audiences are located. And if creators are jumping from TikTok to YouTube, we should definitely pay attention to what is happening. Here are a few reasons why we social media geeks believe YouTube is "da shizzz":

  • YouTube caters to short-form and long-form creators.

  • YouTube's algorithm is better at building relationships between creators and their audiences.

  • The YouTube algorithm allows for an active choice from the audience, unlike Instagram and TikTok.

  • YouTube provides better analytics compared to Instagram and TikTok.

  • YouTube provides deep insights on audience behavior, such as when people drop off and where they discover a video.

  • YouTube pays creators more, and its monetization tools are way better.

  • Instagram is all about drama, bugs, and uncertainty. We love a little drama, but enough is enough, right?

🩳 Grow on YouTube with Shorts

Now, I can tell you from personal experience that YouTube is actively promoting short-form content on the platform. You may have noticed an increase in the number of smaller content creators, such as myself 🥸, on YouTube, particularly in the Shorts section. That's why I decided to put the "create more Shorts" strategy to the test by posting one every day. I've only posted five times in a row, but I already have some results to show you.

I know it’s a not a big deal. It's not like I blew up on YouTube or anything, but imagine if I keep posting every day? These figures are likely to rise.

As you can see, most people find my content via the Shorts feed, just as I expected. 🔎

This is the video that got me the best results.

As the printscreen above shows, this sudden increase in views has happened before. One single YouTube Short did that! It's mind-blowing!💥 If I had consistently posted like I am now, the results would most likely be similar to what I am now experiencing.

As you may or may not know, I want to monetize my YouTube channel. The first thing I did months ago was switch from Portuguese to English, a more mainstream language on social media and a way for me to reach out to more people. It appears to be working because people from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia are watching my videos more than people from Portugal. Cool! ^^

In order for me to continue growing on YouTube, I need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours. I’ll get there. If you’d like to contribute subscribe here → https://www.youtube.com/c/VanessaCarreiroAmaral?sub_confirmation=1

I had to ask. 😜

For the time being, my strategy is to keep posting Shorts on a regular basis in order to get my channel monetised ASAP. I'll keep you guys updated on my own channel analytics with regular posts. Stay tunned.

You’re missing out…

You need to jump on the YouTube bandwagon. It is a must if you or your brand are not already there. Put it on your list, right now! Here are some pretty good reasons why:

  • Biggest search engine in the world, after Google. Yeah, it still is.

  • Second most used social media platform, 2.51 billion people are there! 🤯

  • It is the platform where people spend the most time, after TikTok, with 23.1 hours per month.

Don’t take my word for it. Grab the Digital Global Overview Report. They’re the ones with the data.

These reasons, along with the ones I mentioned previously in this newsletter, reinforce the idea of why brands should be on YouTube. Not just with advertisements, but also with content. Genuine, entertaining, informative, and human-centered content. This is how they will connect with their audiences and form tight-knit communities.

"People follow people, not logos," as we social media geeks have been saying for the past three years. Brands should be on the lookout for superstars, also known as social media managers, to be their faces, voices, and souls on social media. Real people, humans!, with their flaws and virtues, should be talking and interacting with others like equals. No brand bullshit! People! That are already or may become your customers/clients. It's the Creator Economy, for Christ's sake. Use it to your advantage and see results.

This is the power of social media. This is the super power of social media managers and content creators. 💪

👋 Speaking of Social Media professionals…

I've helped a few brands in developing a more human and engaging social media presence. Brands like this one:

I can do the same for your brand by designing a custom social media strategy based on these three pillars, Content + Community + Creators. What you’ll get:

  • Content thought up specifically for brand audiences.

  • A strategic human approach to community management that produces genuine engagement results.

  • Increased brand awareness and recognition.

  • Increased conversion and sales results.

All of this is crafted for your own brand's reality and niches.

So, if you want to dominate social media with a more current and human presence that produces real results, let's talk!

📅 I'll be back...

But in the meantime, you can find me on Youtube, Linkedin and Twitter.

Thank you for sticking with me to the end. You’re a brave one! 💪

See you next time!

– Vanessa
